West Virginia Social Studies Fair announces new America250 project category
West Virginia students now have the opportunity to enter the West Virginia Social Studies Fair under the new “America250” project category. Projects can include topics like the founding of America, lasting contributions of West Virginia as the new nation was formed, and more. The new category will be available for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years.
Sample themes include:
- The Declaration of Independence: Voices of Freedom
- West Virginia’s Role in America’s Founding: A Historical Journey
- The Founding Fathers: Crafting a Nation from the Ground Up
- America at 250: How the Ideals of the Founding Fathers Shape Our Future

Submissions are now open for Nationwide Student Contest: America’s Field Trip

Submissions Will Be Accepted Until April 16, 2025; Discovery Education Develops New Resources Educators Can Use to Bring America’s 250th Anniversary to Their Classrooms
This year, 75 first-place awardees and their designated chaperone will be provided airfare, lodging, and access to an unforgettable field trip experience at one of our nation’s historical and cultural sites across the country. Second-place awardees will receive a $500 cash award.
